Currently 36 orphans. Some of them attending High School, a privilege for less than 40% of African children. To help Dorine we have 2 widows and a social worker employed to take care of the children. Since the opening of the  Orphanage we only lost one orphan who went home to be with the Lord.

Thank you to all who provided new bedding and shoes for the kids, the girls absolutely loved their new dolls. On Sunday they were treated to soda, cookies and ice-cream—it was a treat to see the reaction of those who had ice-cream for the first time! They had fun making and building a huge puzzle, coloring bags and pictures and chasing after huge bubbles. Jackline is a natural worship leader and we were so blessed by their singing.

Samson (11) never knew his parents, he was found wandering around the village by a neighbor who took him in when he was still a little boy. They could never afford to send him to school and now brought him to the orphanage. I explained to them that they are not orphans anymore, but now have more than 100 brothers and sisters all over Africa, a mother, father, aunts and uncles! It is a privilege to have them as part of our family.

You can adopt one of our orphans from Kenya. For a monthly cost of $40 you can help us to take care of them and give them education. For more information please see our "Adopt an Orphan' page or email Michelle Koorts at michelle@handsonafrica.com
