In 2009 we opened our first home with 26 widows. At the opening event of the Helen Reusse Widow Care Center we saw hundreds responding to the Gospel invitations and all 26 widows submitted their lives to Christ in the following weeks. While taking care of these abandoned women we teach them skills like crochet, knitting, painting and weaving as part of helping them to restore their dignity and self worth. They have also started their own garden and chicken farm helping them to become self supportive. We started a church at the center for them and the people of the surrounding village. We currently have 34 widows.

One of the widows told Andre on a trip to Kenya: "I sometimes had to go a week without food and couldn't sleep because I didn't know where my next meal will come from, now I have
food and a place to live. I have learned about a God that loves me."

Widows are employed to make bracelets and necklaces and several other items which we are selling in the USA in order to raise funds for orphan and widow care.

Rina showed the widows how to make a yo-yo quilt (picture above)
