 PROFILE OF ANDRE DELPORT (Founder)

Born in July 1960, Andre matriculated in 1978,and went on to complete two years of compulsory National Military Service in the Air Force. On Andre's return from the Air Force he joined Iscor, South Africa's largest Iron and steel manufacturing company as a Computer programmer. At the age of 21 Andre moved into the business world and by 22 was the Managing Director for a local newspaper called the " Newcastle News". In 1983 he married Rina and had the joy of them both coming to Christ that same year. In 1989 Andre, now the father of 3 daughters was offered the position of Administrative Manager of a large Textile company in East London. He also started studying by correspondence through the University of South Africa for a B.Commerce degree. It was during this time in 1990 that the Lord called Andre into fulltime ministry as an evangelist. With only four subjects to complete for his degree he started his theological studies through the Baptist Theological College in Johannesburg in 1991. However, was not able to continue with both sets of studies with the result that he had to make a critical decision to only continue with his theological studies. In March 1991 he was called as a student pastor to the East London Afrikaans Baptist church where he served till the end of 1994. God called him and the family to Cape Town where they planted a new Afrikaans speaking Baptist church in a suburb called Welgelegen. Andre completed his final studies through the Baptist Theological College in Cape Town, graduating in 1996. In 1998 the Welgelegen church planted another new church at the most southern point of Africa.  He served the Welgelegen church until December 1999, after which he resigned as the pastor and went fulltime into mission work. He was subsequently invited to the United States to conduct numerous revivals. Further, he served on the Western Province Baptist Association Evangelism committee for a two year period and was part of the steering committee for the Billy Graham organizations outreach to Cape Town.

In 1997 Andre, an Afrikaans speaker, who had never preached in any other language, including English, sensed God's clear call to do evangelical work in Kenya. Through the means of open air rallies in remote areas of Kenya, he saw many come to a real knowledge of Christ. A Church was planted in Migori, Kenya and through outreach efforts into Masai land, an unreached people group, another 4 churches have since been planted. Andre along with teams of volunteers held Pastor's Conferences, and preached in schools and orphanages in the area through the newly formed Hands on Missions Africa branch. Through these efforts the Lord clearly led him to begin a Bible School in the area to train the many church leaders who were desperately in need of sound Biblical teaching. The HOM Bible School was founded in July 2000 with 25 students. The need for a Christian based orphanage was enormous. Working together with the local church, the HOM Orphanage was founded in August 2002 with 28 children.

In 1998 the Lord also linked Andre with missionaries from Malawi who were crying out for help. He got involved by reaching out to Malawi by arranging and addressing a Pastor's Conference for the local fraternity with the goal of equipping them to reach out to the unreached Yao community. HOM Africa has since then bought a farm in the Yao area where orphan homes have been built for the care of destitute children. The farm also provides work and food for people in this area who are faced with severe famine.

As recognition for Andre's zeal and passion for people, Jacksonville Baptist Theological Seminary, Florida U.S.A. in 2003 conferred on him an honourary Doctorate of Divinity.
